Sonya Youngren, MD is a member of Summit Health’s Obstetrics and Gynecology team. Dr. Youngren specializes in women’s health care and has expertise in general obstetrics and gynecology. She is comfortable caring for a wide age range of patients, from young adults through patients who have already experienced menopause. Dr. Youngren believes the key to excellent care and disease prevention lies in having open communication, not just with her patients but with other treating physicians as well. “Coordinated care plays a major role in a patient’s overall health and well-being.” She takes ample time to properly educate her patients and practices up-to-date and evidence based medicine.

Prior to joining Summit Health, Dr. Youngren was a founding member of Women First Health Center in West Orange. She is also a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Dr. Youngren is a busy but extremely proud mom of four active children who play soccer all year long! She loves to help her kids with their community service efforts, which include tutoring and assisting at local food banks. Dr. Youngren enjoys running, completing nearly 35 miles each week, and participating in races when she has time. She also likes spending time in the kitchen creating a variety of fun, delicious, healthy meals.
